Senior Asset Engineer

The Role:


The Asset Strategy team within Asset Management is responsible for the strategic development of both the transmission and distribution gas network. Asset Strategy is responsible for identifying and defining the policies and strategies related to the serviceability and performance of the Network. Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Senior Asset Engineer will develop policies, strategies and plans to meet safety, regulatory and business requirements while maximizing and sustaining the value of the assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement asset management policies to deliver the optimum balance between cost, performance and risk for respective asset classes
  • Manage a suite of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor/predict trends and variances in asset performance, performing root cause/failure modes & effects analysis.
  • Manage the asset register for the relevant asset groups to ensure the appropriate criticality and lifecycle management regime is assigned.
  • Provide engineering support to the Asset Manager
  • Manage the performance of asset related service contracts.
  • Develop initiatives and business cases under the price control process
  • Develop business cases and maintain Investment Strategy Papers (ISP) to support the GNI investment approval process.
  • Managing asset risk and mitigating actions including urgent modification or remedial interventions.
  • Manage a Technical Policy Framework, incorporating technology developments, manufacturers’ information and business and regulatory requirements to assess impact on the asset base.
  • Raising risks and issues as appropriate within Asset Management.
  • Other duties as required from time to time



Knowledge, Skills and Experience:



  • Proven technical competence is essential – Engineering degree or other relevant qualification desirable at least 5 years relevant experience.
  • Previous experience of working with compressor station assets, subsea pipelines, CNG is an advantage.
