Senior Commercial Analyst

Ervia is a commercial semi-state company which provides strategic national gas and water infrastructure and services in Ireland. Through our regulated business, Gas Networks Ireland, we build and operate one of the most modern and safe gas networks in the world. Gas Networks (GNI) Ireland is the business division of Ervia that owns, builds and maintains the natural gas network in Ireland and connects all customers to the gas network. The Commercial function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for developing and implementing the commercial strategies of the Gas Networks and Aurora Telecom businesses to ensure sustainable growth into the future. The commercial department is dedicated to increasing demand by maximising the potential of the existing networks while seeking opportunities to expand and diversify into new areas through research and innovation.
The policy and governance team within the commercial department is focused on identifying and securing funding for research and innovation, monitoring policy developments and responding to relevant consultations. Applications are now invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Commercial Analyst.

The Role:

The Senior Commercial Analyst will report to the Commercial Policy and Governance Manager and will have responsibility for managing funding applications and supporting the policy and governance work. The Senior Commercial Analyst will work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the goals of the Commercial Department.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day issues related to the funding application process and act as an escalation point, taking ownership of the issues through to resolution.
  • Ensure that key risks, assumptions and interdependencies related to the funding application are understood and managed throughout the application process to submission.
  • Manage relationships internally and with external suppliers and contractors, monitoring progress and contract adherence.
  • Engage with external stakeholders at a national and European level to socialise funding projects and gain support from the Irish Permanent Representation, INEA representatives and MEPs.
  • Liaise with departments across Ervia e.g. HSQE, Company Secretary etc. to obtain buy in and information to fulfil funding project requirements.
  • Manage the funding governance process and the development of new processes and procedures.
  • Monitor national and European policy developments related to energy, renewables, climate change, environment, transport and heat.
  • Prepare reports on innovation and funding to inform senior management as required.
  • Support the delivery of the goals of the Commercial department
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant third-level qualification together with a minimum of 5-7 years of project management experience.
  • Proven ability to create, develop and maintain strategic working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others.
  • Experience of leading and managing people and teams is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate strong decision making, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion, along with the ability to communicate complex information to others.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems, propose and implement solutions.
  • You are comfortable with making and taking appropriate decisions.
  • Have a commercial mind-set and execute work across multiple teams maintaining a strong commercial focus.
  • Must be flexible with a positive attitude to change.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing new skills in self and others and a track record of getting results through others.
