Gas Networks Ireland recommences indoor meter readings

Following extensive risk assessments, Gas Networks Ireland has recommenced indoor meter readings.

Head of Commercial and Corporate Affairs, Ian O’Flynn, said Gas Networks Ireland was happy to be increasingly returning to normal operations and that health and safety remains a foremost priority.

"Having recommenced all outdoor works at the beginning of July, we are very pleased to resume all indoor meter readings," Mr. O’Flynn said. "We have adopted a risk-based approach to our phased recovery programme to determine what work will be undertaken at each phase of the reopening roadmap in order to protect the health and safety of our staff, suppliers, customers and the general public. Our meter readers will, at all times, adhere to our health and safety guidelines and have been issued with PPE and hand sanitiser.

"We thank all our customers for their patience during the lockdown and want to reassure you that indoor meters will not be read if you do not want to proceed for any reason or if we are made aware of any vulnerable customer occupying the premises."

Gas Networks Ireland is reminding customers who would like to submit a meter reading to do so online at www.gasnetworks.ie/meter or by phoning its Dial-A-Read line on 1800 427 732.

All Gas Networks Ireland emergency services continue to operate as normal. If you smell gas at home or on the street, please call 1800 20 50 50 immediately.
