Supply Suspension Scheme announced

Gas Networks Ireland has agreed with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) to forego network usage charges for a period of 90 days for certain businesses who are not consuming gas as a result of Covid-19.

The "Covid-19 Supply Suspension Scheme" opened for applications on May 1st 2020 and is available to non-domestic Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). Businesses wishing to apply for this measure should contact their gas supplier who will assess their eligibility.

Denis O’Sullivan, Managing Director at Gas Networks Ireland said, "The SME sector is a critical part of Ireland’s economy.  Gas Networks Ireland recognises the difficulty facing these businesses during the Covid-19 crisis. In particular we understand the financial pressure on small businesses that have effectively closed as a result of Covid-19. To try and alleviate some of the financial pressure, Gas Networks Ireland will forego network charges for a period of three months. We hope that this measure, along with other supports from government, will assist these businesses in getting back on their feet as quickly as possible and support overall economic recovery."
