Reduce your carbon footprint and improve your home’s energy rating.
Natural gas is cleaner and more efficient than other fossil fuels. Switching to it will help to reduce your carbon footprint and improve your home’s energy rating.
Using natural gas helps to reduce carbon and other emissions, which benefits our health and the environment. All fossil fuels when ignited will cause emissions to the atmosphere and all of these fuels will emit CO2 emissons. However, in comparison to other fossil fuels natural gas produces the lowest amount of CO2 in fact, using natural gas will reduce your carbon emissions by 40-55 % ( SEAI 2017).
An average house has a yearly energy consumption of 13,800 kWh* for heating and hot water use. For example a house switching from electricity to natural gas would save approximately 3700 kilograms of CO2 per year which is the equivalent to taking one car off the road. A house switching from using oil to natural gas would save approximately 930 kilograms of CO2 per year which would be the equivalent to what is absorbed by around 150 trees.

Generating power using natural gas helps to reduce carbon and other emissions, which benefits our health and the environment. Made up of more than 95% pure methane, natural gas emits less carbon dioxide than other fuels. It also produces negligible levels of nitric oxide, sulphur, and particulates compared to oil or coal.
