Wexford Town

Bringing gas to Wexford town is taking place in two phases, the first involved constructing gas mains from Great Island to the edge of Wexford town and the second consists of laying pipes around the town.

The next phase of this project is due to begin in mid-2018 and involves the construction of a further 10km of gas mains in the town, as well as the replacement of approximately 11.6km of aging water mains which are in poor condition, most of which run alongside the route of the gas pipeline.

It will also include the replacement of over 1,000 lead shared backyard services. It is expected that this work will take circa 12 months to complete. The site investigation works to assist with the design of Phase 2 have been running in parallel with the Phase 1 pipe laying works and are now complete.

The Gas to Listowel project encompasses a Feeder Main gas pipeline which will run from an existing Gas Networks Ireland station near Foynes, Co. Limerick through to Listowel town; and a Gas Distribution Network within Listowel town. This work is taking place in two distinct phases. Gas Networks Ireland is engaging with landowners, stakeholders, residents, businesses and relevant authorities in the area before commencing construction.

The project will see a 41km gas Feeder Main pipeline laid from Barrigone, Co Limerick to Listowel town. The route travels via Ballyhahill, Co Limerick and Moyvane, Co Kerry, with local gas distribution networks being constructed in each of these locations. Work on the Feeder Main will be followed by the delivery of 9kms of local town gas distribution network in Listowel town.
