New towns phase 2

Background to the project

Studies were undertaken to evaluate the extension of the natural gas network to additional towns around the country. In 2006, Phase 1 of the New Towns Report found 11 towns on the route of the Mayo-Galway pipeline were viable for connection. The majority of these towns have been connected, with Tuam and Athenry due to be connected. Please see further details in our Gaswest section.

Phase 2 completion and reports

Phase 2 of the study was completed in 2007, with a further 6 towns qualifying for connection. Further information is available in the New Towns Phase 2 Report (due to the size of these files the report has been split into 7 parts):
