Gas Networks Ireland Sustainability Strategy
As a leading utility company sustainability is defined by our role in delivering a safe, reliable and cleaner energy future for the people of Ireland through the decarbonisation of our network and the reduction of emissions across all sectors of Irish society.
Sustainability at Gas Networks Ireland includes supporting the health and wellbeing of our employees in the workplace and positively impacting the communities in which we operate, while contributing positively to Ireland’s economy.
In 2019 we developed our Sustainability Strategy underpinned by Vision 2050, our 2030 Business Strategy, the three pillars of sustainability- economic, social and environment and six of the UNSDGs.
As part of the development of our Sustainability Strategy, we worked with a range of key stakeholders to identify our most material issues and key priorities.
Our sustainability priorities were identified through a materiality assessment process which included sustainability stakeholder engagement activities including surveys, focus groups and interviews. We have developed our sustainability strategy objectives around six UNSGDs, three primary goals and three supporting goals.
