What is a GPRN (Gas Point Reference Number)?

What is a GPRN? Where do I find it?

A GPRN (Gas Point Registration Number) is a unique 7-digit reference number used to identify a connection to the gas network.

This can be found on your gas bill from your natural gas supplier (its location on the bill can depend on the gas supplier you've chosen).

Find GPRN on a PAYG meter

  1. Without putting the card in, press Red A Button.
  2. After the screen lights up and is displaying the balance, press and hold Red A Button again until you hear a beep.
  3. At this point you can cycle through the different screens by pressing the Red A Button.
  4. When you reach screen 32 the screen will show "Ref" followed by the GPRN number (e.g. Ref 0123456)

The GPRN can also be found on your 'top up' receipt from Payzone for PAYG meter customers.

If you've moved property

GPRNs are linked to specific properties, they’re not linked to specific people or gas suppliers. If you've just moved, you can find out the GPRN of the new property by contacting Gas Networks Ireland on 1800 464 464. Alternatively your landlord, estate agent or the previous occupiers of the property could supply the GPRN for you.

Online meter reading

You can submit an online meter reading to avoid estimated bills. You will need to enter your GPRN and your meter reading.

Your GPRN is seven digits. If your GPRN is less than seven digits please add one or more zeros as required to the start of the number to make up the seven digits (e.g. 0012345)
