Notice of a proposed project subject to appropriate assessment under the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC

Gas Networks Ireland hereby gives notice of a proposed project in relation to the construction of an underground distribution gas pipeline in Dundalk, Co Louth.

The proposed pipeline comprises the installation of a 250m long underground distribution gas pipeline within the existing Dundalk Business Park in Dundalk Co. Louth.

The proposed pipeline, including its construction and operation, is subject to appropriate assessment under the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC and the EC (Birds and Natural Habitats) Regulations 2011. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared.

Gas Networks Ireland shall determine whether or not the proposed project will have an adverse effect on the integrity of any European site. Gas Networks Ireland may decide to proceed with the project, with or without, modifications or conditions, or to not proceed with the proposed project. If the proposed project will have an adverse effect on the integrity of a European site, Gas Networks Ireland may only proceed with the proposed project if there are imperative reasons of overriding public importance and the other criteria set down in Article 6(4) of the Habitats Directive are satisfied.
