Employees from Gas Networks Ireland rolled up their sleeves to donate blood as part of World Blood Donor Day, helping to support patients who rely on lifesaving blood donations every day.
The group attended the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) donor clinic at St. Finbarr’s Hospital in Cork and are encouraging more people to consider becoming blood donors, highlighting the difference a single donation can make.
World Blood Donor Day, celebrated annually in June, highlights the importance of regular blood donation and the life-saving impact it has on health systems worldwide.
Gas Networks Ireland employees were proud to take part in the effort, with many regular donors and first-time participants alike stepping forward to contribute.
Speaking about the initiative, Conor McEntegart said:
“At Gas Networks Ireland, we’re proud to support the communities where we live and work. It’s a really rewarding experience to be able to give something so simple that can make such a big difference. There’s a great sense of pride among the team in taking part, especially knowing that these donations will directly support patients here in Cork and across Ireland”
Margaret Noonan at the Irish Blood Transfusion Service, said:
“We sincerely thank the employees of Gas Networks Ireland. Every blood donation helps patients in hospitals across Ireland and contributes to maintaining a safe and sustainable blood supply. Support from organisations like Gas Networks Ireland plays an important role in ensuring blood is available whenever and wherever it is needed.”
Gas Networks Ireland continues to encourage staff participation in community-focused initiatives, recognising the positive impact these efforts have both locally and nationally. Their involvement in World Blood Donor Day reflects an ongoing commitment to supporting public health services and fostering a spirit of volunteerism among employees.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is always seeking new and returning donors to help meet the ongoing demand for blood donations throughout the year.
