As the operator of Ireland’s gas network, we want to reassure you that your gas supply is secure and you can continue to use gas as you always have.
Ireland’s gas network is one of the most modern and safe gas networks in the world, and irrespective of which energy provider you use, gas will continue to flow in the weeks and months ahead.
We have robust and tested procedures in place to maintain security of gas supply to our customers and to ensure that staff and customer welfare is protected.
Throughout this pandemic, we have and are continuing to implement the recommendations and guidelines from the HSE and Irish Government to minimise the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and are in frequent contact with relevant Government Departments to ensure that the Government is kept fully up to date on our activities.
We have adopted a risk-based approach to our phased recovery programme to determine what work will be undertaken at each phase of the reopening roadmap in order to protect the health and safety of our staff, suppliers, customers and the general public.
In line with the Government’s Plan for Living with COVID-19 and the introduction of Level 5 public health restrictions in all counties, Gas Networks Ireland has temporarily limited some of its activities throughout the country.
The restrictions will not however impact the continued safe operation of the gas network, gas emergency work or essential support for vulnerable customers.
Whilst we will continue to read outdoor meters, all indoor meter reading continues to be suspended. Works requiring entry into occupied properties, such as meter unlocks and meter exchanges will continue, however due to the restrictions some appointments may need to be rescheduled and we will contact the customers in question.
We thank all our customers for their patience during the lockdown.
