Battery Replacement Programme

Gas Networks Ireland have identified a number of locations where the gas meter battery needs to be replaced as it is nearing its’ expiration date. This is a proactive measure to ensure the meter continues to function properly.

The job will be are carried out at no cost to you and with the least amount of disruption possible. The replacement takes no longer than 10 minutes to complete and there will be no disruption to your gas supply. All staff will carry photo ID badges identifying them as working on behalf of Gas Networks Ireland.

Please note if your meter is external (i.e. outside your home) and in an accessible position, you do not need to be at home, for the job to proceed.

Please note if your meter is internal (i.e. inside your home) you will need to provide access to inside your home, in order for the job to proceed.

Meter relocations

These are not automatically carried out under the Battery Replacement Programme. If you wish to have the meter relocated, a separate request will need to be made to us. A quotation will be issued and payment must be made before work commences.
