Price Control 6 (PC6) Submission Summary
We are publishing a high-level summary of Gas Networks Ireland’s draft Price Control 6 (PC6) submission and inviting feedback from customers, stakeholders and the public. PC6 covers 2027–2032 and will set the outputs we deliver, the investment required and the revenue we can recover over that period.
Price Controls are the process the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU) uses to assess and approve investment plans for regulated utilities. They set the outputs to be delivered, and the revenue Gas Networks Ireland can recover from customers to fund efficient delivery.
What this means for you
- PC6 will influence the investment needed to keep the gas network safe, reliable and resilient from 2027 to 2032.
- It will help shape how the network supports customers, communities and Ireland’s transition to a lower-carbon energy system.
- Your feedback will help us understand what matters most to network users before we finalise our submission to the CRU.
About this consultation
The gas network supports a secure and affordable energy system as Ireland transitions to a lower-carbon future. Through PC6, we set out our proposed priorities and investments for operating, maintaining and developing the network over 2027–2032.
We welcome feedback on our draft PC6 proposals. The CRU’s PC6 Strategy Paper sets out objectives and guiding principles for 2027–2032, and our plan explains how we propose to meet them. Your feedback will help us test our proposals, understand the priorities of different users of the gas network and, where possible, improve the final plan before we submit it to the CRU.

Please email your feedback on the proposals in this consultation document to Gas Networks Ireland by Wednesday, 30 September 2026, so we can consider your views before we submit our PC6 plan to the CRU.
- This consultation is an opportunity to comment on our draft PC6 proposals and help inform the final plan.
- You do not need to answer every question. You can respond to the questions most relevant to you and/or provide any general comments you would like us to consider.
- We will not be able to respond to every submission individually, but all feedback received will be reviewed and considered as we finalise the PC6 submission.

Q1: Strategic outlook – Do you agree with how we have described the changing energy environment and the future role of the gas network? What factors do you think should shape gas network investment during PC6?

Q3: Safety, security and resilience – Do you support our proposed focus on maintaining a safe, secure and resilient gas network? Please tell us why, and whether there are particular areas we should prioritise.
Q4: Low-carbon and renewable gases – Do you agree with our proposed approach to supporting low-carbon and renewable gases, including biomethane in the near term and hydrogen readiness over time? Are there specific actions you think should be prioritised during PC6?
