The Role

The Asset Management function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for optimising the return from the asset portfolio and considering the financial and regulatory effects of the proposed investment strategies. Asset Management identify, plan and develop investment programmes while achieving an optimal balance between customer requirements, asset efficiency and risk. Asset Management provides single oversight of network assets, enabling it to make key decisions that will optimise overall operation of the system.

The AGI Information Improvement Strategy (AIIS) Project is a multi-year programme of work tasked with improving the quality of Asset Data Capture (ADC) in relation to Transmission network assets, ensuring consistency across drawings, site tagging, Maximo, GNI’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and GNI’s Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) system by addressing line of sight issues across these data systems for assets in existing AGI’s.

Reporting to the Project Technical Lead, the AGI Information Improvement Strategy (AIIS) Data Analyst will manage all end-to-end project information, records and asset data etc. A key focus will be ensuring the quality of data issued to projects and the quality and formatting of data returned from the field.

The AIIS Data Analyst will also be responsible for updating Maximo in line with Asset Information Standards and with project and new strategic requirements arising from the AIIS project.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in site remediation readiness through the preparation/development of Above Ground Installation data files used in a desktop and site survey system.
  • Ensure all assets are appropriately represented in an integrated data model across the Asset Register, Drawing Management Systems, SCADA and Asset Tagging conventions.
  • Undertake thorough quality checks when/where necessary to ensure accuracy of information represented in the integrated data model, as defined in the AGI Data Taxonomy.
  • Create / update Maximo Assets and Locations in line with Asset Information Standards with data provided through the AIIS Project.
  • Support the Asset Register Manager in the delivery of the Asset Register Processes and related Planned Maintenance Updates as capacity allows.
  • Engage with GNI stakeholders and relevant ESPs to ensure that Asset Information Standard requirements are understood, documented, prioritised and delivered, utilising existing functionality and implementing new data solutions where appropriate.
  • Proactively identify, implement and support mechanisms for improving GNI data definition and data capture.
  • Support the implementation of a sustainable Asset Information Management (AIM) system for GNI’s Above Ground Installations.
  • Engage with the Senior Asset Data Architect to maximize the utilization of GNI I.T. systems and system enhancements to ensure new enduring Asset Information requirements are identified and systemised.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Relevant technical third level qualification with at least 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience of software systems and knowledge in enterprise software systems; experience with Maximo an advantage.
  • Highly proficient in EXCEL.
  • Knowledge of reporting packages such as SAP Business Objects; SQL experience an advantage.
  • Experience with identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas, implementing solutions and communicating to stakeholders across different departments.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills, strong decision-making capabilities and good attention to detail.
