The Role

The Asset Delivery function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for the end to endplanning, designing and delivery of GNIs portfolio of asset development programmes. TheAsset Delivery function brings together all the technical and project support capabilitiesneeded to take high-level projects and programmes from the Portfolio Office and translate thesethroughfrom detaileddesignandproject planning,toconstructiondelivery andhandoverto Asset Operations.

Reporting to the Digital Design Services Manager, the Design Interface and Assurance Lead will be responsible for managing design interfaces and coordinating deliverables with key internal and external stakeholders. This role will support the enabling of the design process for materials, engineering service providers, and other framework competitions that support end‑to‑end design delivery.

The role will also lead and manage a team that consolidates technical inputs from engineering and technical support functions into high‑quality, pre‑formatted documentation. The Design Interface and Assurance Lead will ensure that all technical scope, evaluation criteria, and requirements are accurately captured fully aligning design requirements prior to handover to Supply Chain for sourcing activities.

This role requires a highly organised, results driven individual who can coordinate activities, drive outputs, problem solve, energetic through taking ownership to support engineering teams, the candidate will need strong communication and relationship management skills


 

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage a team that acts as a critical interface between Engineering and Supply Chain and other key internal and external stakeholders enabling efficient, compliant and high-quality end-to-end deliverables supporting the delivery of the design process e.g. materials etc.

•     Manage and coordinate technical scope from engineering disciplines, clarify assumptions and technical requirements, ensure engineering intent, evaluation criteria  is accurately reflected in pre-procurement documentation prior to engagement with Supply Chain.

•     Manage and coordinate technical input requirements to frameworks, mini-competitions and call-off contracts to meet programme timelines, support premarket engagements e.g. develop appendices, centralise data sheets and specifications etc.

•     Manage alignment across engineering pillars, standards and quality management inputs, identify gaps, inconsistencies, or risks and drive resolutions prior to interface handovers.

•     Manage and coordinate timely scoring of technical input across engineering teams, ensure consistency and alignment meeting internal governance compliance.

•     Manage and coordinate the day-to-day interface with engineering service providers on cost time resource sheets, materials inspection costs,  reconciliations ensuring the progress of compliant purchase requisitions, development of KPI dashboards and reporting, clear ownership of interface status of activities between Design Delivery and other key internal or external stakeholders.

•     Manage and update risk management systems, ensure robust process and governance in place in the management of external designers and access to system platforms, support document updates in iQMS, design improvement initiatives across Design Delivery.

•     Mange and develop an audit schedule for third parties to ensure alignment of outsourced engineering partners adherence to the Engineering Design Manual and Technical Competency Framework, identify gaps and implement corrective actions.

•     Manage and coordinate justification and approvals within Design Delivery for material justifications etc. in line with internal policies. 

•     Manage and continuously support materials intelligence capability, development of approved‑suppliers, AI‑assisted ways of working to enhance Design Interface and Assurance ways of working within Design Delivery.

•     Performing other duties as assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in project based or capital procurement environments.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail, quality assurance mindset holding oneself to account.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with the aim of optimising cooperation and maximising efficiency delivering shared goals. 

  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision, delivering complete decision ready outputs.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement based on available information, document, record and progress, taking feedback on board as required in the interest of achieving shared objectives.
