The Role

The Asset Delivery function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for the end to end planning, designing and delivery of GNI’s portfolio of asset development programmes. The Asset Delivery function brings together all the technical and project support capabilities needed to take high-level projects and programmes from the Portfolio Office and translate thesethroughfrom detailed design and project planning,toconstructiondelivery and handover to Asset Operations. 

Reporting to the Project Manager the Project Delivery Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of Biomethane injection site projects issued to Asset Delivery by the Portfolio Office. Acting as the primary point of contact through the lifecycle of the project from Design to commissioning. The project engineer will be responsible for developing and updating project plans and ensure all target dates are achieved. 

The role is Dublin based but projects will be based across the country as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the Project manager in the management and development of Biomethane projects in Gas Networks Ireland. 
• Support the delivery of project management for Biomethane injection sites but aim is to be delivered through Asset Delivery 
• Support the management of construction project design, estimation and project planning including all relevant statutory processes, procurement management and maintenance forecasting, working closely with Capital Delivery and Operations Departments; 
• Support the production and approval of project delivery plans, contractor plans, cash flow projections and earned value analysis; 
• Ensure project governance and reporting is effective with clear communication on progress and escalation of issues and risks 
• Managing project activities to ensure delivery on time, within scope and budget. 
• Coordinate the development and execution of collaboration or service contracts for the delivery of projects and the protection or dissemination of information. 
• Promoting an improved HSQE culture within the team and with our business partners. 
• Work closely with Asset Engineering to update specifications and standards where required.  Review project related documentation as required to ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and specifications. 
• Acting as escalation point for project related activities, resolving any issues as they arise. 
• Escalating any reoccurring issues, risks or issues that cannot be resolved to the Project Manager. 
• Producing monthly reports on progress of projects with strong focus on costs and programme timelines. 
• Supporting the continuous improvement of project delivery across various portfolios, through the use of standard project delivery processes. 
• Ensuring continuous improvement in all areas of project management. 
• Performing other duties as assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Relevant third level 8 degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline with minimum 3 years’ experience, relevant to the role 
• Experience in the development and delivery of energy projects is an advantage. 
• Good knowledge, understanding and experience of the Energy Industry and Markets 
• Strong report writing and document preparation skills. 
• Full, clean drivers’ licence, and own car for travel to construction sites. Expenses paid in accordance with Motor Travel rates per Dept of Public Expenditure and Reform. 
• A strong team player and have a demonstrated ability to bring teams together. 
• A clear communication style and will be able to influence others effectively. 
• Comfortable with change and have a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvements and efficiency. 
• Have demonstrated a commitment to developing new skills in yourself and others. 
• You are results focused and have a track record of getting results working with others. 
• Comfortable with making and taking appropriate decisions. 
• Are committed to providing excellent customer service and have a track record of delivering excellence working with others. 
• Have excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements and propose and implement solutions.
