The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Finance Partner, the Commercial Finance Analyst will play a pivotal role in advancing the commercial finance function. By contributing to the development and assessment of commercial opportunities and ensuring robust financial governance across all commercial activities, the analyst will deliver critical financial support as Gas Networks Ireland strives to meet the nation’s energy needs, guides its network toward a low-carbon future, and maintains a strong commitment to energy affordability.
Duties and Responsibilities
• The commercial/financial management and monitoring of connection agreements for both new and existing customers including ensuring compliance with the Financial Security requirements.
• Conducting financial evaluations for new connection proposals involving both producers and demand-side users.
• Contributing to the development and preparation of Connection Policy submissions.
• Assisting with the evaluation, drafting, and presentation of proposals to the CRU.
• Delivering financial analysis to support effective decision-making.
• Designing and constructing financial appraisal models to ensure revenues, costs and return-on-investment are evaluated correctly along with ensuring compliance with the Connections Policy.
• Implementation and testing of new tariffs for the appraisal and evaluation of new connections.
• Fostering strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and customers.
• Ensuring queries from internal and external stakeholders are promptly addressed.
• Performing additional duties as assigned when required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Third level or other qualification with proven technical competency.
• At least 3 years relevant experience in a similar role in Energy or related Industry.
• High levels of computer literacy and practical experience in IT Systems.
• Financial/numerical modelling skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others.
• Experience with identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas and implementing solutions.
• Have excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements and propose and implement solutions.
• Ability to set up ongoing procedures to collect and review information as needed.
• Proactively identifying new areas of learning and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job.
• Ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results.
• A commercial focus with a good understanding of business operations.
• A commitment to developing new skills in yourself and others.
