If your application is successful, your starting salary will be determined within the pay range based on your skills and experience. The market reference point (midpoint) of the range typically represents the higher end of the initial offer and reflects a level at which an individual is considered fully proficient in the role. This structure also allows scope for ongoing salary progression as the employee continues to gain experience and develop in the position.
The Role
The Regulation function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for the delivery of Market Operations, Market Development, implementation of EU Energy Market Regulations and Directives and both EU and Irish policy initiatives, as well as the strategy to deal with ongoing Regulatory compliance.
Reporting to the Wholesale Market Manager, this position will involve ensuring the effective systemisation of the wholesale market rules, in particular the Code of Operations, across key business process and applications such as GTMS, whilst ensuring compliance with key industry standards such as the EU Networks Codes on Transparency and Interoperability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that the requirements of the Code of Operations and gas transportation regulatory framework, including EU Networks Codes on Transparency and Interoperability are incorporated into GNI's business process and applications.
- Project Manage the integration of new transportation products into GNI's business processes and applications.
- Support the systemization of changes to the Code of Operations, and shape process changes and system enhancements for GNI to remain compliant with evolving industry regulations.
- Testing and quality assurance of market process / system changes within GNI, through participation in and sign-off of business acceptance activities.
- Manage day to day market process issues as they arise, and act as an escalation point within the team, taking ownership through to resolution – in particular with respect to GNI’s market messaging system (GTMS) and data transparency portal.
- Document key processes, update as required, and develop improvements of a technical and operational nature to business process when inadequacies are found.
- Development of appropriate business principles and rules to address new development requirements including the introduction of new EU Network Codes.
- Keep up to date with all relevant regulatory obligations and gas industry standards, including monitoring updates to regulatory rules including EU Networks Codes
- Participate in key EU / national industry technical working groups including ENTSOG working groups on Interoperability and Transparency (occasional travel to Brussels may be required).
- Participate in and lead the delivery of regulatory projects which align with GNI’s strategic objectives, including projects related to the deployment of renewable gases and related to ensuring security of supply on the gas network.
- Other duties as maybe assigned from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Relevant qualification in Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Energy Systems, Economics, or a related discipline
- A minimum of three years relevant post qualification experience required.
- Experience with identifying business process improvement opportunities, generating and implementing practical solutions.
- Excellent IT skills, i.e. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word – familiarity with FTP protocols, XML schema and APIs would be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey messages in a clear and succinct manner.
- Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others.
- Experience in process documentation, including the development and maintenance of structured procedures, controls, and governance frameworks
- Driver of high standards for individual and team accomplishment and delivering desired results.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to rapidly acquire and apply new knowledge in response to evolving regulatory or business requirements.
